Thingness of Things
TENET
TENET is pleased to present “Thingness of Things” at 4 Princelet Street in London. Exhibited in an empty Grade-II listed Georgian house, a historical remnant, we witness how the architecture reflects the building up of layered, multifaceted and accumulated forces in the art works, an emotional response to the iterative system that is life. This exhibition brings together the works of five artists and designers, Rut Blees Luxemburg, P.R.Patterson, Jia En Cai, Til Han Qingshan and Zhiliang Jin. Rendering painting, sculpture, photography, and fashion design, the works are in discourse with both space and time.
Hooked on Efficiency, Development, and Production! We find ourselves being captured in the paradox of contemporary existence: hyper-stimulation and unremitting consumption of the new, enmeshed us. We are in the flux of a database, allowing ourselves to become strings of data. A myth we now live by.
“Thingness of Things” emerges amidst this cacophony as a quest for slowing down and for withdrawing ourselves from inertia. Delving into the realm of embodied thinking, the exhibition presents the accretion, application, and spontaneous growth in the works and the practices of the artists and designers...
